Qcam troubles

Hi.  I'm fairly new to using a cam under unix and have some troubles.  I
am running under bsdi 3.0 which comes with the kernel driver for the
qcam.  When i use the following:

qcamcontrol -b 100 -c 100 -w 100 > /tmp/don.ppm
ppmtogif /tmp/don.ppm > /tmp/don.gif

I am able to view the gif file that was created.  However, when i try to
use the xqcam with similar parameters:

xqcam -c 100 -w 100 -b 100

I i get is a black screen.  I'm using a b&w cam by the way.  Any
thoughts on this?
