  There are at least two different unix-based webcam servers with
continuous video streams (one of them is my qcwebcam) and numerous ways
to set shot on demand, auto-updated (and optionally ftp'ed) file, etc. I
can write part of that, but my experience is limited to my camera server
and auto-updated files.
